The Garrison of Kristinehamn is very proud to wish You welcome to the World Championships in Military Pentathlon.
Twenty years ago the Bergslagen Artillery Regiment organised the Military Pentathlon competition and people still remember and talk about it.
Last year we organised the Open Nordic Championship, more or less as a rehearsal.
During the last years the CISM-world has grown substantially. We now have the possibility to welcome countries from all over the world, and we really enjoy doing it.
This week Kristinehamn will be the most international place it has been in a long time.
We will always remember this and we hope that You also will, whether You win or loose.
The responsible technicians have been competitors them- selves, so I hope You will find
everything satisfying.
Last year we supported the 5-days
orienteering

"O-ringen" with 16 000 competitors running for
five days in different areas. Compared to that, this should be easier!
Personally I have experience from more than 20 Military
World Championships in orienteering, as a competitor,
chief of mission and for the last years as President PTC Orienteering.
Sweden has been very active in this field. During the last years Sweden have PTC-presidents in shooting, naval pentathlon, aeronautical pentath- lon and orienteering.
It’s a great job to go to the competitions and meet all the skilled and dedicated people.
Sport is a vital part of military training and we have a lot of opportunities to train and com-pete.
The Värmland Regiment, the Värmland Brigade and the Bergslagen Artillery Regiment, all have belonged to the best units for a long time.
Besides orienteering, shooting and biathlon, military pentathlon has been a top sport.
That’s why we are so happy to arrange the championship and try to make a success of this competition.
Ihope You feel welcome and remember that we are all responsible for reaching the motto of CISM:

MEET BANDEIRA -
The Brazil top star in Military pentathlon.
His full name is Ribamar Juvino Bandeira. We met him when the Brasilian team was training grenade-throwing.
He took part in the military championships already in 1985, when he won the gold medal. Later he has taken another 3 individual gold medals.
How did your team prepare for this World Championship?
"I had about four month training period together with our team.
It has been a 100% effective training.
We are really a very well prepared team.
The training period has certainly been good for the 2 new members of the Brasilian team.
Over all are we better prepared than earlier.
The unity in the team is our strength.
And your own preparations?
"Physically I think my pre-parations are 100%.
